Sheridan Journey: A Vision for Sheridan

Over our 50 year history, Sheridan has continued to evolve and grow to meet the changing needs of Ontario's post-secondary students. Continuing with this evolution, we have a Vision for Sheridan that will build on our current diploma and degree programs with the goal of evolving into a unique undergraduate university.

President's Message

Sheridan’s opportunity is to become Sheridan Polytechnic, a university celebrated as a global leader in career-focused, applied education. We are, and will continue to be, renowned for the span of our credentials from apprenticeship to degrees and graduate certificates with academic pathway connections, our commitment to SRCA [scholarship, research and creative activities], the growth of meaningful degrees that contribute to the future socio-economic welfare of our communities, and our excellence in teaching.

As a polytechnic university, we’ll combine the depth and theoretical learning of university-level study in specialized, career-oriented fields with the hands-on and practical strengths of a college education. We have the distinct advantage of building on our role as a founding member of Polytechnics Canada (established in 2003) while we continue to nurture our institutional strengths and differentiators.

We will continue our efforts to meet the membership standards of Universities Canada to confirm the quality of our programs and our institution and so that Sheridan’s degree graduates will be afforded the same opportunities in Ontario as graduates of traditional universities in the province.

I am honoured to serve as Sheridan’s President and Vice Chancellor for the next year and am dedicated to this institution and our collective journey to become a polytechnic university. I am committed to encouraging inter-program and departmental collegiality, increased transparency in our decision making and communications, and building a strong governance framework with clearly understood roles and responsibilities so that we form the best possible foundation for our students and employees, and effectively serve the communities that we are proud to call home.

I look forward to an exciting year ahead, and thank you for your commitment to help build Sheridan’s bright future.
